This competition is for founders of African descent who are building innovative solutions capable of unlocking untapped markets and creating new opportunities. Participants must be working toward a collective goal of solving pressing issues either on the African continent or in Black communities within the Diaspora (US). Candidates are eligible to win a non-dilutive grant of $10,000, a feature on AmplifyAfrica.com to build awareness of your mission and product, a meeting with competition judges, and a feature on Prosper Africa’s Deal Room. All selected finalists will have the opportunity to pitch on May 26th, 2022 to a panel of esteemed judges and your peers.

This competition is for early-stage founders of African descent who are building products or solutions in the beauty/beauty-tech industry. This track is exclusively sponsored by Pull Up for Change and UOMA Beauty; with the goal of extending capital and mentorship to fellow African founders looking to break into the beauty industry. Eligible candidates are beauty entrepreneurs looking for support, mentorship, and encouragement in creating new products or apps to connect people to the best brands and practices. Two different winners will evenly split a non-dilutive grant prize of $20,000, receive mentorship from the one and only Sharon Chuter, the CEO of UOMA Beauty, a feature on AmplifyAfrica.com, and a meeting with our panel of judges.
Participants must be at least 18 years or older, early-stage founders in either pre-seed or seed round of funding with a focus on solving problems in an African country or Black communities in the diaspora. Startup revenue must not exceed $300,000 and the product or solution must be in the beauty or beauty-tech space.
All quarter-finalists will be notified on April 25, 2021. We ask that you do not reach out directly to the AFRICON team for a status update on your application. This may result in your disqualification.
